Lima Photo Day

This tour has a bit of Peruvian history, culture, nature, food, iconic buildings (and others not so iconic but old-styled), art and people’s lifestyle combining some of best city spots. First of all, the classic visit to Lima City Centre: the Plaza Mayor (Cathedral, Government Palace, Archbishop Palace Balconies), and its surrounding streets, then back to the seafront districts, we´ll drive to Magdalena Market, one of the classic markets in Lima, from there by the coast freeway to La Punta and after walking by its streets, we´ll drive again the freeway to Barranco beach and walk up to the Bridge of Sighs.

Suggested plan

Driving from hotel to Lima Centre to explore with our cameras its streets and places as Santo Domingo, San Francisco Sq., Jiron de La Union, Plaza Mayor, among other places.
Then the Magdalena Market, a walk inside the classic market.
La Punta at both sides, the calm beach and La Arenilla, a place where seabirds nest the whole year.
Barranco beach and the old Bajada de Baños to arrive to Bridge of Sighs and end at the Seafront.

Total distance: 5K / Walking time 1:30 hours / Average Total time: 7-8 hours including shuttle.
Note: Timing and distance could be adjusted depending season, weather conditions or time spend on each place.

Our photographer suggests

We suggest to start:

– In summer is preferably to start as early as possible.

A zoom 24-70 / 24-105 / 35-150 mm good for multi use.
Additionals a tele and a wide angle lenses.
On sunny days a ND2 or polarized filter.

Basically in summer (Jan-Apr) you must use sunscreen and fresh clothes. Lima temperatures are on average 24-32C.
During winter (Jul-Oct) long sleeves and a wind vest for temperatures of 12-16C. Usually, it doesn´t rain too much (except in Aug-Sep) but bringing an extra coat for rain or cold may be helpful.
